Sea Monster Update January 2013

Japan and the Giant Squid, Architeuthis dux, the beast.

And this was on reddit with the caption “Found on friends Go Pro Camera after surfing in Rockaway Beach, NY”.

This is not too far from the infamous Jersey shore shark attacks of 1916 which inspired a book that later became an art house film where some dude says

Y’all know me. Know how I earn a livin’. I’ll catch this bird for you, but it ain’t gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin’ bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin’, little tenderizin’, down you go.

Chameleon Watch: Day 3

And the chameleon, never flitting, still is sitting, STILL IS SITTING
On the kukui tree branch just outside my lanai door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon bunny’s that is dreaming,
And the rainbow o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my mahalo from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted – nevermore!
